Reel Rebels Show Programme
The Avant Garde for Middlebrows
-Third Monday of the Month 7:00PM - 8:30PM
Leon Clowes is an artist combining words, sound and space, dealing with trauma. In his career he's raised millions for arts and social welfare, produced sell-out clubs and shows and curated, evaluated and advocated for culture, especially music, where his heart will always follow. Show: The Avant Garde for Middlebrows is different every time in theme, sometimes with co-hosts, genre-hopping and sound exploring. It reflects Leon's lifelong lust for new sounds and search for the listenable experimental and the heart in art.
ROTATION - Last Thursday of the Month 7PM - 9PM
Rotation explores a fertile musical landscape where Latin, African, Caribbean and Brazilian grooves meet Funk, Soul, Disco and Dance. Douglas Noble (DJ Doug) has been DJing since the early 90s, pursuing a passion for a vinyl-fuelled exploration of the groovy place where Latin, Caribbean and African sounds meet Disco, Funk, Soul and Dance. He runs the ever-popular Feet to the Floor nights in Whitstable, as well as the High Life parties, and is part of the RPM vintage vinyl collective.
Planet Of Sound - Alternate Wednesday's 10PM - 12 AM
Kevin has remained passionately committed to discovering and sharing pioneering new music. Along the way he co-founded what has since become one of the longest running alternative club nights in the country, has secured numerous DJ residencies over the years, and worked as a journalist for several magazines and websites. Kevin's show Planet of Sound is a genre-fluid platform for experimental and left field music listeners, enjoyed by a diverse audience marginalised by the mainstream. Aiming to carry the uncompromising spirit of John Peel into the digital age whilst kicking against the homogenisation of a culture dictated by algorithms, we are passionately committed to and consistently successful in giving exposure to an eclectic and innovative range of sounds from the fringes, embracing everything from dancehall to drone, highlife to hip-hop and rock to rocksteady.
